ABOUT THE BANDS
With her luminous voice and captivating songcraft, Skylar Gudasz has won the admiration of some of the most distinguished artists in music. In the past few years alone, the Durham, North Carolina-based singer/songwriter/multi-instrumentalist has shared stages with the likes of Ray Davies, Cat Power and Sharon Van Etten as part of the Big Star’s Third tribute concerts, opened for Television and toured from the US with Teenage Fanclub to Europe with the Mountain Goats, and appeared as a background vocalist on albums by Superchunk and Hiss Golden Messenger, making her TV debut with the latter on Late Night with Seth Meyers. Raleigh-based songwriter Kate Rhudy worked alongside collaborator and producer Andrew Marlin of Mandolin Orange to create her 2017 debut, Rock N’ Roll Ain’t For Me, which earned Rhudy nods from WUNC and INDY Week as “one of the Triangle’s sharpest young songwriters”.

Rhudy released her Sophomore album, Dream Rooms, April 8th of 2022 with producer Andrew Marlin, of which The INDY WEEK says is ”a bittersweet slant toward the sweetness that romance can offer, even when fraught. It sounds, in other words, a lot like love.” LISTEN

Most widely known by music fans as one-fourth of the indie Americana band Mipso, Libby Rodenbough’s distinctive fiddle tones and ethereal, lilting vocals are well-accustomed to sonic settings that push the boundaries of traditional genres into new territory. On her first solo record, Spectacle Of Love (May 29, 2020 / Sleepy Cat Records) this spirit of artistic exploration and expansion remains a constant for Rodenbough. Plucked from the Mipso collective, Rodenbough adds acoustic and electric guitar, piano and synth, and more to her personal repertoire of instruments, and invites in a widened family of stellar North Carolina musicians to help bring Spectacle Of Love to fruition. The depth of Rodenbough’s songwriting––and her knack for seamlessly juxtaposing intense emotion with observational asides––is fully revealed on Spectacle Of Love. With lyrics delivered head-on and creative choices in service of that same unwavering honesty, Spectacle of Love is simultaneously an intimate confession and an expansive declaration. LISTEN
